Small groups

Jesus invited the twelve disciples into his ‘circle’ to be known and accountable because this is important for spiritual growth. The sort of Christ-centred relationships formed in small groups serve the same purpose for us. If we invest to establish these relationships they provide a safe, affirming place to support and encourage us through failure, areas of sin, or hardship; and to make mistakes and learn how to minister to others using the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit. If we choose to participate in an iron-sharpening-iron way, the honesty and passion for God expressed through these relationships can keep us spiritually alert.

Our desire is for every person in the church to be in a small group because this is where deeper relationships form. Good relationships help us feel connected and provide loving support because our needs are known by people who know and care about us. The deeper relationships we can form in a small group also provide accountability which can be used by God to help us grow. Small groups are a safe, affirming place to make mistakes and learn how to minister to others using the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit. This provides God with opportunity to do some great things!
